Abstract

The rapid pace of industrialization, urbanization, and global challenges like climate change has increased environmental pollution, creating ongoing risks to public health. Despite efforts to reduce environmental damage, people are still widely exposed to air pollution, contaminated food, pharmaceuticals, artificial light, noise, radiation, and numerous synthetic chemicals. Recent estimates indicate that about 80% of the risk for non-communicable diseases has been associated with non-genetic factors, mainly environmental exposures.
