Abstract

With the deep integration of new-generation information technologies in the construction field, Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology has become a core method to improve construction efficiency, optimize resource allocation, and ensure project quality, driving the industry toward digitalization and intelligence. Taking the cargo terminal project of the Kunming Changshui International Airport renovation and expansion as a case study, this paper systematically investigates the full-process application system of BIM technology in large-scale, complex airport facility projects. By establishing a digital platform that encompasses detailed design, model-based construction, measurement payment, and multi-party collaborative management, the cargo terminal project achieved the integration of design, construction, and operation and maintenance. This effectively addressed key issues prevalent in traditional projects, such as information fragmentation, low collaboration efficiency, and difficulties in quality control. This paper elaborates on the construction path, key technologies, and collaboration mechanisms of the BIM implementation system, summarizes its significant effects in improving fine management levels, reducing rework, and strengthening process control, and provides optimization suggestions for existing issues such as inconsistent model accuracy, insufficient data standard compatibility, and varying digital literacy of personnel. Finally, it explores the development trend of integrating BIM with emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Augmented Reality (AR), and Digital Twins, providing a reference for digital practices in similar large-scale airport facility projects in China.
